A 37-year-old Janesville man accused of operating while revoked, causing death has his second plea hearing in Rock County Court after showing up drunk for the first one last week.

Rock County Judge Karl Hanson revoked Mon Thong’s bond Friday morning after he plead guilty to knowingly operating while revoked causing death and operating with a prohibited alcohol content, third offense.

As part of a plea agreement, an additional charge of homicide by use of a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol content was dismissed.

52-year-old Steven Pignato was killed as a result of the crash at the intersection of Court and Pearl Streets in July of 2021.

At Thong’s original plea hearing last week, he was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of .21 so Judge Hanson vacated the pleas and found him in contempt. The plea hearing was rescheduled for Friday.

Sentencing is set for August 29th.
