Janesville Police work to spread the word about illegal fireworks ahead of the 4th of July.

Janesville Police Chief Todd Kleisner says out-of-state fireworks sellers often include a permit they say makes them legal to possess.

Kleisner says those permits are not valid in Wisconsin or Janesville. The only way to get such a permit if from the City, and they are only granted for professional fireworks shows.

Kleisner says the fine for possession illegal fireworks is $200 for adults and $100 for juveniles.
