The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is inviting the public to share their input on a project that could affect a rare turtle.

Conservation Biologist Rori Paloski says the ornate box turtle is present where the Peace Trail is scheduled to be paved between Beloit and Janesville.

Paloski says a biologist will be present on site during the project looking for turtles on the trail, as well as indentations in the ground where the turtles bury themselves in at night.

The public is invited to submit written comments regarding project-related impacts to the ornate box turtle through July 27th.
