A short film that was created locally is already creating buzz on the film festival circuit.

Co-Writer Jim Lyke says he’s expecting to release the film Meeting Dad to the public in the fall.

The 24 minute film tells the story of an elderly woman who’s dying wish is to meet the father she never knew in heaven.

Lyke says it was all filmed locally on a shoestring budget, using mostly volunteers.

Lyke says the film’s script received an award from the IndieX Film Festival in L.A. and it was selected to screen at the Iowa Film Festival in Mason City next month.
