The Woodman’s Sports and Convention Center Design Committee held a meeting Tuesday afternoon to get updates on the project.

Public Works Director Mike Payne says a third party consultant reviewed the original design and costs and they confirmed that the unit pricing is consistent with what they’re seeing, they also identified same areas to cut, and they offered some alternate concept plans and layouts for the project.

Payne says that the consultant suggested the project could be completed at 110,000 square feet, which is 20-30% smaller than the original plan.

Payne says that if they needed to eliminate one of the main components of the project to hit that number, then they have to revisit the business plan to see if the model would work.

The WSCC hopes to get an updated price point at their next meeting on October 4th.
