The Beloit City Council pondered just how to spend some of the $15.2 million in ARPA funding the city has.

Council member Clinton Anderson says homelessness and infrastructure were two of the main topics at Monday’s meeting and they decided to put $1.3 million into services related to homelessness and transitional living.

Anderson says they’ve taken community feedback into consideration in regards to what they money needs to be spent on, and residents are asking for replacement of the lead service lines in the city.

Anderson says Beloit’s Public Works Director noted it would take about 100 years to replace the lead service line in Beloit without using ARPA funds.

The city previously has spent $499,500 of ARPA funding on a new ambulance, city hall HVAC upgrades, and road work on streets across the city.
