The Woodman’s Sports and Convention Center price point is down to about $52 million after the W-S-C-C made a number of decisions at a Tuesday afternoon meeting.

Public Works Director Mike Payne says some of the big decisions include reducing some square footage and the height of the walls, reducing the amount of glass on the front of the building, pulling off an overhang canopy at the front of the building, and eliminating the sunken ice sheets.

Payne says he’s encouraged by what came out of the meeting and that a lot of different representatives on the committee were willing to give up components of the project in order to continue to move the project forward.

The decisions made Tuesday afternoon lower the cost of the project by about $8.1 million dollars.

The committee will meet next on October 18th to continue to work on lowering the cost.
