A 30-year-old woman from the Whitewater area is dead after being struck by a vehicle late last month in the town of Cold Spring.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched to a pedestrian versus vehicle crash on County Highway N, south of County Highway U just before 10:00 the night of October 29th.

Preliminary investigation determined that a group of people were attempting to cross county Highway N when one of them was struck by a northbound vehicle.

Maricela Del Carmen Rivas was transported to a local hospital where she died from her injuries on Monday.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene until law enforcement arrived.

The incident remains under investigation.
