The spring Beloit City Council race is heating up.

There will be at least one new face come April, with incumbent Clinton Anderson filing a declaration of non-candidacy following a successful run for State Assembly.

Beloit resident and community organizer Yusuf Adama is the first candidate to officially announce he is running.

Adama currently serves on the Appointment Review Committee.

The other two incumbents up for election in April – Nancy Forbeck and Sherry Blakeley – have both taken out nomination papers.
