The Woodman’s Sports and Convention Center could be receiving additional funding from the federal level after a bipartisan bill passed in the senate.

Senator Tammy Baldwin announced that more than 255.7 million in congressionally directed spending for Wisconsin projects she supported has been included in the Omnibus Appropriations Act for 2023.

Included in that 255.7 million would be 5 million for the proposed convention center on Janesville’s north side, but the Appropriations Bill still needs to be passed in the House at the end of the month.

This potential funding comes after the Janesville City Council expressed their support to borrow $17.3 million in funding at a meeting last week.
