Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority award $2 million in WHEDA Foundation grants to 54 organizations across the state.

YWCA Rock County Executive Director Heidi Deininger says the money was intended to provide emergency shelter, transitional residences, and extremely low-income housing.

Deininger says the YWCA received a $2,500 grant to replace the outdated residential-grade main door access and intercom with a commercial grade system.

Deininger says the YWCA would have liked to apply for more grants to replace all of their entry security systems but two bids need to be submitted and they couldn’t find two companies who could submit bids by the deadline.

Project 16:49 received a $42,129 grant to replace the furnace at it’s Janesville location, and install air conditioning and replace the base board heating at it’s Beloit location.
