
A man is dead after fleeing from the the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and rolling his vehicle several times.
According to a news release, a deputy stopped to check on a vehicle parked near the intersection of County Roads Q and B in the town of Aztalan just before 10:00 on Friday night.
While speaking to the driver, the deputy noticed the smell of marijuana and asked him to step out of the vehicle.
The driver fled south on county Road G and eventually crashed near the curve just north of Highway 12, rolling several times.
Deputies checkout on the driver and found that he had no pulse and was trapped inside the vehicle.
The accident remains under investigation and the driver’s identity is pending notification of family.
