UW-Whitwater has announced sports journalist Kevin Blackistone will be on campus for two days in early February to discuss the topic of race in sports.

Whitewater Professor of Communications Keith Zukas  says Blackistone has a particular niche in the topic, and he will be presenting a movie he has co-produced about the fight against Native American mascoting.

Zukas says following the screening they’ll be hosting a Q and A session with Blackistone and the following day Blackistone will be hosting a guest lecture titled “More than a Game: Racial Identity Politics and Sports”.

Zukas says they’re starting a new sports communication certificate at Whitewater, and they felt this was a great event to help launch the certificate.

The film presentation will take place February 1st at 7:00pm in Young Auditorium, and the guest lecture by Blackistone will February 2nd at 11:00am in room 275 of the James Connor University Center.
