The Wisconsin Emergency Rental Assistance program will close applications at the end of January after helping households for nearly two years.

Community Action Executive Director Marc Perry says between Rock and Walworth counties alone $30 million in rental aid has been given out to more than 4,000 unique households, but no program and grant program lasts forever.

Perry says applications will still be processed after the closing date of January 31st, but the applications get processed on a first come, first serve basis so there is no guarantee funding will be received.

WERA has paid out over $242 million in benefits to more than 38,000 unique households across the state during the last two years.
