Janesville Police are warning citizens about an individual attempting to impersonate a police officer.

According to a news release, a female driver was headed north on Center Avenue near Rockport Road around 5:30 Wednesday evening when a black Hummer SUV attempted to stop her vehicle.

The victim reported that the Hummer had chrome around its headlights and red and blue flashing lights. The driver of the suspect vehicle was a white man.

The victim became suspicious and contacted Rock County dispatch who verified that the individual was not a law enforcement officer.

The incident remains under investigation.
