With the ice on local bodies of water melting quickly, the Rock County sheriff’s Office is already thinking ahead to boating season.

Deputy Trevor Lund says anyone born on or after January 1st of 1989 is required to complete a boater safety education course in order to legally operated a motorized boat of personal watercraft on Wisconsin waters.

Lund says registration is now open for a class that will be held March 18th at the Rock County 4-H Fairgrounds.

The class fee is $10 and it will be collected at the mandatory in-person registration on February 28th.

Registration will open April 10th for the second class which will be held May 13th at the Edgerton Conservation Club.
