The League of Women Voters – Whitewater Area hopes to be a better neighbor by leaning about the history of a country with a lot of recent immigrants in the area.

Professor of Education Dwight Watson says there are currently 80 Nicaraguan families in the area and about 200 students in local schools.

Associate Professor of History in the College of Liberal Arts and Texas A & M Dr. Claudia Rueda will be the speaker for a virtual presentation on Nicaraguan history.

Watson says the event will take place on Zoom Thursday evening from 7:30 until 8:30.
