
The School District of Monroe is in hot water with taxpayers following last fall’s successful $88 million referendum to build a new high school.
The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty is backing up a group of voters who feel the School District of Monroe was dishonest about the cost the referendum would have on taxpayers.
Deputy Counsel Luke Berg says citizens were repeatedly told the net increase would only be $13 per $100,000 in home value but the reality was 10 to 15 times that.
WILL sent a letter to the District urging the school board to hold a special election to re-do the vote now that citizens have all the facts.
In a written statement, School District of Monroe Superintendent Rodney Figueroa says there was no fraud involved in the communications of the referendum.
