A multi-use path along a busy stretch of Beloit road will be on the way in 2024 after the City Council unanimously approved the project this week.

Beloit Public Works Director Bill Frisbee says the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will head the project, with the state covering 80% of construction while the city covers the remaining 20%.

Frisbee says the path will begin on East Ridge Road and connect from Cranston to the intersection of Milwaukee Road and Lee Lane and will provide an off-road path for both cyclists and pedestrians.

The city will be responsible for approximately $63,918 of the total $260,790 cost of the project and construction will start next year.
