The Janesville City Council may not be holding a final vote on the Woodman’s Sports and Convention Center until late August or early September.
Public Works Director Mike Payne says the WSCC Design team met this week and decided it wanted to wait until the $15 million included in Governor Evers’ budget was actually in hand before sending the project to the council.
Payne says if they were to send the WSCC to the council for final vote before the funding was secure and it ended up not included in the Governor’s budget, the city council would be on the hook for ensuring the entire project is funded.
Payne says with the shifted timeline, the center would likely be completed and ready to use around December of 2024.
