The two Beloit Police Officers switched from a traffic stop to performing life saving measures on a child earlier this month are honored by the city council.

Officer Anthony Love says he’s honored by the award but was simply doing his job that night, while Antonio Richardson says he’s glad he was able to do something that brought the community together.

Police Chief Andre Sayles says both officers are young, having been on the force less than two years, but showed themselves to be true guardians for the city of Beloit.

According to the report, after being informed that the child may be choking on pizza, Richardson immediately took the child and began doing back slaps while Officer Love radioed for EMS.
