The city of Beloit is asking residents to voice their opinion on possibly adopting a No Mow May ordinance at an upcoming meeting.

Director of Strategic Communications Sarah Lock says No Mow May is a conservation initiative that encourages people to stop mowing during May to create habitat and provide resources for bees and early season pollinators.

Lock says the ordinance would change the maximum height grass could be from 8 inches to 12 inches during the month, but the city council wants to hear feedback either via written comment or at their Monday meeting.

The council will then either adopt or not adopt the ordinance at one of their April meetings.
