The Beloit Sky Carp Reading Program is helping kids secure tickets to ball games in exchange for reading a book or two.

President Zack Brockman says this is the first year they’ve done the program, but he’s had programs like this before at some of his previous baseball teams and this year they’re already up to over 20,000 participants for the program.

Brockman says individual schools or entire school districts can sign up for the free program, and they’ll pick a day which the kids will be able to come to the ballpark and enjoy a game if they read the books the district assigns.

The program spans from schools in Northern Illinois, all the way up to Middleton and the Madison area.
