The 40-year-old Janesville woman who’s accused of striking and killing a nine-year-old boy in a cross walk in September of last year has a plea hearing scheduled for July.

Brenda Violante faces a single charge of felony knowingly operating without a license, causing death, which has a maximum penalty of six years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, Violante was stopped for the stop sign at Prairie Avenue and East memorial Drive the afternoon of September 28th, but didn’t see the boy crossing the street as she made a right turn.

A plea hearing is scheduled for July 21st at 2:00 p.m. in Rock County Court.

Violante is currently free on a $1000 signature bond.
