The Paddock Solar Project in the town of Beloit is another step closer to completion.

Construction crews began installing the first solar panels on the utility-scale solar project last month

Alliant Energy Spokesperson Chris Caporale says the site will have a total of 150,000 solar panels.

Caporale says when it’s complete, the 65-megawatt project will power around 17,000 homes.

Caporale says Alliant Energy hopes to have the project completed and operational by the end of the year.

Caporale says the Paddock Solar Project is part of Alliant Energy’s Clean Energy Blueprint, a strategic roadmap to cost-effectively accelerate our transition to renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions.
