There aren’t a lot of original commercial buildings remaining in downtown Beloit.

The Beloit Historical Society and Downtown Beloit Association team up on an educational program illustrating how commercial areas reflect the economic vitality of cities.

Historical Society Assistant Director Jesse Herscher says it will take place on May 24th from noon until 1:00 p.m. at the Downtown Beloit Association.

Herscher says Jim Draeger’s talk explores the architectural and historical evolution of commercial buildings in from early statehood to the mid twentieth century.

Herscher says registration for the program is required, and lunch will be provided by Bagels and More.
