Invasive species can cause a tremendous amount of damage to local wildlife, so the DNR is asking Rock County residents to do their part in helping prevent the spread.

Invasive Plant Specialist Mackenzie Manicki says there are a few things people can do including getting educated on how to identify invasive species, clean off mud and dirt from shoes so they don’t transfer seeds, and promote native plants which can help pollinators.

Manicki says some common invasive species include garlic mustard, dane’s rocket, wild parsnip, and woody plants like common and glossy buckthorns.

People can also visit the DNR website for more tips as well as ways to identify invasive species.
