Even though local municipalities like Janesville and Beloit are seeing an increase in shared revenue in 2024, one local legislator thinks more still needs to be done.
Democrat Mark Spreitzer of Beloit says Janesville is scheduled to receive about $5.08 million in shared revenue in 2024, an increase of about $913,000 from about $4.17 million in 2023.
Spreitzer says while it’s an extra $900,000 and he wasn’t going to turn down the money, the shared revenue formula needs to be re-worked otherwise Janesville and city’s similar to Janesville will continue to get left behind.
Beloit is slated to see a 22% increase in shared revenue funds from the state, and will receive about $19.59 million in 2024.
