There’s no need for local fresh-fruit lovers to sing the blues this summer, as the Janesville Lions Club is pleased to announce the return of its “Tom’s Blueberries” fundraiser for 2023.

The sale features 5-pound boxes of fresh-picked Michigan blueberries for $25 each. Club members travel to western Michigan in late July or early August and drive the berries back to Janesville, all in one day.

Once back in Janesville, our customers pick up their orders at Traxler Park. The exact date depends on the growing season and, once known, will be communicated via email and social media.

The blueberries are as fresh as they come, are great for snacking or using in your favorite recipes, and also are able to be frozen for months. Customers can stock up for summer snacking, as well as all of their fall and winter baking needs.

There are several ways to place an order: online at tomsblueberries.com, via any Janesville Lion, or customers can use their credit card via phone at 608-752-0085. Orders will be accepted through late July; the exact cutoff date is TBD and is related to the growing season.

This fundraiser was gifted to the Lions Club by member Tom Carlson, who operated it as a private business for several years but decided to “retire” after the 2021 season. Not wanting to see his dedicated customer base lose access to these delicious, sweet summertime treats, he asked our club to continue the tradition.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Janesville Lions Club’s many community service projects, including youth vision screening, supporting local parks and outdoor spaces, high school scholarships, and our various other community projects and services.
