The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Officer is releasing the name of the 54-year-old Brodhead man who was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday evening in the town of Avon.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office say deputies were dispatched to the report of a crash with the driver being ejected just before 6:00 p.m. on West Avon North Townline Road just east of South County Road T.

Initial investigation determined the driver and sole occupant, Richie W. Swartwout, was headed east when the vehicle left the roadway, entered the south ditch, and overturned multiple times.

Swartwout was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Medical Examiner’s Office says preliminary results of the autopsy confirm that Swartwout died from injuries sustained in the crash.
