A 33-year-old Janesville man who’s accused of stabbing his wife back in January is found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

According to the criminal complaint, Cory Ary suffers from schizophrenia, and on January 18th he stabbed his wife multiple times because he suspected her of cheating, after she wouldn’t allow him to accompany her to her mother’s doctor appointments.

Ary then called police and reported the crime himself.

According to online court records, Thursday morning in Rock County Court, Ary plead guilty to a single count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

Judge Ashley Morse found Ary guilty, but not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

Ary was ordered committed to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services until his sentencing on September 25th.
