Rock County continues to improve year over year when it comes to unemployment.

Southwest Workforce Development Board CEO Rhonda Suda says the county saw a 3.2% unemployment rate in May, down from 3.6% in May of 2022.

Suda says companies are making the adjustments necessary to deal with a statewide workforce shortage and attract people to their jobs who they maybe wouldn’t have thought of before.

Suda says job fairs are also a great place for companies to highlight themselves, but traffic at county job fairs from job seekers has been down simply due to the fact that unemployment is so low.

39 counties across the state reported historically low unemployment numbers during the month of May.
