Fees across a number of departments and services in the City of Janesville could get an increase after Monday night’s city council meeting.

Assistant to the City Manager Nick Faust says these fees are charged for a various number of services, and it allows staff to ensure their annual cost recovery goals are being met and they’re being fiscally responsible.

Faust says the revenue generated and added to the general fund varies by department, for example in the building division they aren’t recommending any fee increases, but in the Recreation division the sum will bring in an additional $34,000 a year.

If the recommended fee increases are incorporated into the 2024 budget, the City anticipates generating an additional $430,068 in General Fund revenue.
