Ken Canalini, the Sharon man who had a standoff with police in Beloit after threatening to burn down the building, tries to have his cash bond modified in Rock County court.

Canalini’s defense asked for a signature bond, saying until recently he had gone a number of years before any issues and despite having a lengthy record his only recent violations have been traffic citations in Walworth County.

Court Commissioner Mason Braunschweig denied the motion, saying the only thing which has changed since his last appearance was that he was now bound over for trial.

Braunschweig did say Canalini was welcome to try and file the motion with another judge and see if they would agree to the change.

Canalini was initially given a $5,000 cash bond.
