The first steps have been taken by the City of Janesville to construct a solar array panel on the city’s northwest side.
Associate Planner Trae Meyer says at their Monday meeting, the Janesville City Council had their first reading of a rezoning ordinance and referred the project to the Plan Commission and it will now be set for a public hearing at the Council’s August 28th meeting.
Meyer says the city is partnering with Alliant Energy and one component of the array would allow residents to purchase panels and get a credit on their energy bill based on how much solar energy is collected each month.
Mayer says the array will be out by the Rock County Complex and just east of the Rock Haven senior home.
