AWARE in Evansville steps up to fill a need at a time when children are home for school in the summer.

Manager Amy Floan says food and hygiene items are being collected for the Care Closet to make up for the free meals students won’t be getting the next couple months.

Floan says items can be dropped off at a number of churches and banks, the Eager Free Library or the Care Closet.

Most needed items include olive oil, nut butters, unsweetened applesauce, fruit cups, gluten free pasta, and Alfredo sauce.
