A pair of donations from the Rock County Health Department to the Merrill Community Sharing Garden in Beloit are already seeing results.

Garden Coordinator Kaelyb Lokrantz says they typically grow around 1,000 food producing plants but since the department used grant funds to install a water line in the area they’ll be able to double the amount of food.

Lokrantz says on top of the water line, the department also gave them 34 signs in English and Spanish with pictures of the garden’s produce so non-English speakers will have better access to items in the garden.

Lokrantz says having both of these donations contributed in the last year alone will be a huge game changer for the garden.
