A 24-year-old Kansas man is under arrest after Janesville police say he crashed into a boulder at a local tavern and then tried ditching a stolen gun in a nearby filed.

Janesville Police say officers were dispatched to Sideline Sports Bar on South Wuthering Hills Drive just before 10:30 (Thursday) night.

Witnesses reported seeing thr driver crash into a boulder in the parking lot, and then run into a field with a backpack, before returning empty handed.

A K-9 officer searched the area and found the backpack containing a stolen gun.

Giovanny Zendejas-Castellanos was taken into custody on suspicion of operating while intoxicated, first offense, being a felon in possession of a firearm, endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, and resisting an officer.
