Another resolution aimed at the topic of human trafficking failed at Thursday’s Rock County board meeting.
The resolution, co-authored by Supervisors Mike Zoril and Lori Pennycook, would have used up to $3,000 in sales tax funds to send members of the Rock County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force to the Wisconsin Anti-Human Trafficking Conference next month in Stevens Point.
Pennycook says the group is a grassroots, boots on the ground organization who are licensed professionals and she thinks they are doing good work.
Since it was a budget amendment, the resolution needed a super-majority, meaning 20 “yes” votes were needed for it to pass. It received a 19-6 vote.
Zoril proposed a “Stand Against Illegal Immigration and Child Sex Trafficking Week” resolution in July that failed.
