A problem receiving some cell phone calls at the Rock County 911 Communications Center appears to have been fixed.
Rock County 911 callers who use US Cellular or Verizon may have had a bit of a surprise earlier this week when their calls where answered by the Sauk County 911 dispatch center.
Rock County 911 Communications Center Director Fred Carr says there was a programming issue with the cell phone providers.
Carr says thanks to some overtime, the problem has been temporarily fixed.
US Cellular was able to convert the 911 calls to 10-digit numbers so they still come to the Communications Center, just through a bit of a different route.
Carr says Sauk County dispatchers were able to transfer the calls to Rock County, or talk directly to Rock County dispatchers, so there wasn’t any lack in 911 service.
