A group of suspects in a retail theft case didn’t get very far thanks to quick thinking by employees and fast action by police.  Janesville police say employees at Dick’s Sporting Goods reported several individuals actively stealing merchandise from the business about 3:30 p.m. Monday.  The employees followed the individuals as they got into two vehicles in an attempt to leave with the stolen merchandise.  Officers say they arrived to find one vehicle leaving the parking lot at a high rate of speed. Police say after making a high-risk traffic stop, three occupants were arrested.  The other vehicle was found in a nearby parking lot with a suspect inside a fast-food restaurant.  Arrested on charges including Retail Theft are 55-year-old Michelle Kennedy, 55-year-old Lecia Wade, and 54-year-old Robert Johnson, all of Rockford, and 53-year-old Loretta Bell of Beloit.  A police  news release also states witnesses assisted officers in locating all the individuals and vehicles involved in the retail theft incident. All the stolen merchandise that was recovered will be returned back to the business.
