The first of three people charged in the burglary of a deceased person’s home is sentenced to prison.

Judge John Wood sentenced 25-year-old Timothy Tustin of Janesville to four years in prison and four years of extended supervision (Thursday) afternoon after he plead guilty to a single count of party to the crime of burglary.

Janesville police responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Center Avenue back in February for a report of a deceased individual.

After an investigation, police found the individual was found deceased by an acquaintance and instead of reporting it to the police or paramedics, the person beckoned others to the home who stole several items.

Additional charges of theft and three counts of felony bail jumping were dismissed but read into the record.
