The Rock County Board looks to fill two vacant county board seats on Janesville’s commercial-heavy northeast side.

Rock County Board Supervior reports District 24 supervisor Jim Farrell and District 23 supervisor Russ Podzilni’s seats are open and need to be filled after both resigned from the county board last week.

Farrell was one of a few board member who’d said he faced backlash this year because he wouldn’t support a proposed county bill over anti-human trafficking. He and others said they didn’t like that the bill seemed rooted in a national debate over illegal immigration.

A handful of other board members say they’ve exited the board over strife and infighting that’s kicked up at Rock County Board meetings over polarizing, national political issues such as immigration.

Podzilni says he’s sold his house in his supervisory district.

Districts 23 and 24 represent portions of the city’s north side near the busy commercial corridor along Humes Road and Milton Avenue.

People can apply for the supervisor openings using the county’s online committee application page at co.rock.wi.us. The deadline is Oct. 6
