The 2024 Rock County budget will not include funding for the Woodman’s Sports and Convention Center in Janesville.

County Board Supervisor Ron Bomkamp voiced his support for keeping the $500,000 in the budget for the project, noting it will increase property values in the area, attract businesses, and allow growth in the community.

Fellow Supervisor Debi Towns while she supports the idea of the project, she think it’s inappropriate for the county to use tax dollars on the facility, and businesses and individuals can write checks in support if they want to help fund it.

The $500,000 was removed by the county’s Finance Committee earlier this month before it went in front of the full board Tuesday.
