Local law enforcement will be out in full force through new Years, making sure those celebrating the holidays don’t endanger themselves or others on the roadway.

Janesville Police Sergeant Ben Thompson says these types of deployments are done several times a month a year.

Thompson says the goal of this high-visibility enforcement is to encourage drivers to make an alternative plan so they don’t drive while drunk or high.

During the last holiday season, there were 470 crashes across the state that involved an impaired driver.
