Bars in Janesville and Beloit could stay open as late as 4:00 a.m. for four days this summer under the bill signed by Governor Evers updating state alcohol regulations.

The Janesville Alcohol License Advisory meets next month to discuss the new alcohol regulations that became the law of the land January 1st.

ALAC Member Paul Williams says the later bar hours are related to the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee which will take place July 15th through the 18th. Williams says individual municipalities would have the option to opt out.

Another rule would allow bartenders to apply for a state-wide operator license that is valid in all counties, instead of getting a license in each municipality where they intend to work.
