The proposed new Rock County Children’s Museum in downtown Janesville is still chugging along on their capital campaign.
Capital Campaign Chair John Westphal says they’ve raised $5.6 million towards their $10 million goal, with money coming from individuals, businesses, and foundations; but a small business campaign they’re running is going slow with only $20,000 raised over two months.
Westphal says he’s asking the county for $500,000, and they’re taking pledges over five years so they wouldn’t need all the money in one chunk, but he needs a pledge to take to lenders.
The museum is slated to be located in the former First National Bank building on West Milwaukee Street.
