The city of Beloit is trying to get creative in how they can create new housing opportunities in the city.

Economic Development Director Drew Pennington says the Downtown Upper Floor Housing grant program allows downtown property owners to create housing spaces in their eligible structures.

Pennington says the $363,000 in funds through the program are being funded by the city’s TIF Housing Fund, and they think the they can create 12 to 20 new units in the first year.

A virtual informational meeting on the grants will be held Tuesday, March 12th at 1pm.
