The ink is barely dry on the new legislative maps signed by Governor Tony Evers but a local state legislator is already looking ahead to the future.

State Senator Mark Spreitzer says if one party got complete control there is nothing to stop them from gerrymandering again.

The Beloit Democrat says they need to put something in the state constitution which requires two successive sessions of the legislature and a state-wide vote.

Spreitzer says we have to have a process in place that takes politicians out of the equation and sets a standard of what we mean by fair maps.
