The Beloit School Board has approved a summer roofing project at Hackett Elementary school that costs nearly half a million dollars.

Director of Facilities Tommy Bricco says while the data from a recent study is in mind, they should act on the project since in the eight months he’s worked for the district there have been numerous service requests relating to leaks from the roof.

Executive Director of Business Services Bob Chady says both of the sections that will see work were originally installed in 1996, and they should have started work on it sooner, but they hope to get back to a rotation of fixing roofs across the district every summer.

The total cost of the project is $477,351.
